In The Numbers: Bush Blames Obama, It Could Happen

Although this year’s holiday season has been predicted to be record breaking for retailers, my tires lost a little air when I read that economists believe the boon will likely be the result of strong sales of everyday items such as shampoo, mattresses and underwear. Recent earnings reports suggest that companies like P&G, Kimberley Clark and Clorox have a lot to gain, right along with the usual line up of thrift chains, like Dollar General and TJX Companies. Notably absent from the winners’ circle are the big box retailers, apparel chains and electronics stores.  Is the “S” version of a new smart phone all we have left to look forward to?
