Storage devices have microprocessors that allow them to do more than was possible in the past. This advanced processing power is enabling on-board object storage, IP-based storage devices, more advanced garbage management and higher endurance and ultimately in-storage processing. This will offload processing from the main microprocessor to the storage device leading to more efficient operation and power savings.
