Last Friday night, at the Mexican Consulate in San Francisco, I heard a young Latina developer tell her story of growing up in the projects in Boyle Heights (in SoCal) and moving here to take up residence at Galvanize, an innovative org that provides both space and education to budding entrepreneurs. Three things helped to get her to where she is today: a serious, steely personality (she commanded the room at the Friday event), a string of successes at hackathons, and — biggest surprise to me — an identical twin sister who has been her partner throughout the journey.
