My Top 10 Redundant Or Misused Weather Terms

As I sit here getting ready for my Saturday ritual of watching college football, I am reflecting on the numerous serious weather and climate topics that I have written in Forbes over the past few months. As I take a couple of days off to enjoy my family at Thanksgiving, I thought it would be fun to write a lighter piece while maintaining consistency with my goal to increase weather, climate, and science literacy. Each week the NCAA college football committee ranks its Top 10 teams. I decided to rank my top 10 redundant or misused weather terms. Dr. John Nese of Penn State’s Meteorology Department referred to these as Weather Faux Pas on a recent episode of Weather Channel’s Weather Geeks.  A few of his make my top 10 list too. Here we go:
