Recently, the Yale Center for Emotional Intelligence and the Born This Way Foundation founded by Lady Gaga held the Emotion Revolution Summit, a day-long event for teens to share their ideas for creating improved learning environments. On this day, Marc Brackett, Director of the Yale Center for Emotional Intelligence, released preliminary results of an online survey conducted on 22,000 high school students which shed light on what many of us may remember school to have been. The majority of emotions that the students overwhelmingly expressed having felt were “tired,” “bored,” and “stressed.” Moreover, students who have experienced cruelty from their peers also said that they felt greater levels of hopelessness, fear, and loneliness. At the conference, Facebook, introduced InspirED which they describe as “a place where passionate educators, community leaders, youth and parents can connect and work together to positively impact school climates and the overall well-being of youth around the nation.”
