China’s One-Child Policy Ends Amid New Aggression In The Pacific

In an historic move, China reversed their 1-child policy last week, upgrading it to a 2-child policy. But the damage to an entire generation will not be so easily erased, particularly the aggressiveness brought on by a large excess of young males. At the same time, China is building fake islands in the South China Sea in an attempt to fabricate territorial waters from which to control key shipping lanes. This move was enabled in large part by the 1991 eruption of Mount Pinatubo which closed the U.S. Subic Bay Naval Base in the western Philippines and Clark Air Base on the island of Luzon, leaving a huge military vacuum in the region.
