The new Apple iPhone 6S and iPhone 6S Plus devices both have a pressure-sensitive feature known as 3D Touch, adding a new dimension to the touchscreen. The pressure-sensitive feature adds to the tap, pinch-to-zoom and swipe gestures that smartphones are known for. Apple’s 3D Touch is able to distinguish between soft and hard presses. A soft press lets you “Peek” at an email or website and a hard press will “Pop” open the selected message or website in Mail or Safari. Simon Gladman, a developer that has built several iOS apps, discovered that 3D Touch can be used for more than just “Peeking” and “Popping.” It can also be used for relatively weighing objects.
