As a frequent Uber user, I like to start a conversation with my driver and ask questions about how long they have been driving, what they like about driving, some interesting things they see, etc. When Uber first came out, the drivers that were participating were doing very well. They all tell me they were making good money, they were happy, everything was great! Consumers were able to get lots of Uber rides, and word spread about the service. Fast forward to a couple years later and you will hear a different tone out of an Uber driver’s mouth. I am hearing more and more how unhappy Uber drivers are becoming. A couple years ago, drivers used to be able to work 8 -9 hours a day and make pretty good money. Now, they have to work 12 – 15 hours a day to make close to what they were making before. The amount of drivers is so competitive, it is now hard to make a living doing something like this.
