Like many guardians, I’ve got a ritual. Wake up friday morning, and see what Xur is selling. Even if I can’t make it to the console right away, I just want to know. The weekly exotic weapon merchant has been a staple of the game ever since his first appearance shortly after launch, and he became a fan favorite in short order. He sold the guns and armor you couldn’t get anywhere else, giving the whole thing a Christmas morning feel to it, disappointment and all. A “community loot drop” as Luke Smith described it. There’s probably no better way of picturing Xur’s place in the community than the moment when he finally sold Gjallarhorn, just weeks before it became all but useless.
