The number of items “pinners” can buy on Pinterest has doubled from 30 million to 60 million since Pinterest first launched “buyable pins” in June.
The growing number of merchants on the bookmarking app and the choice by many pinners to share buyable pins and become first-time customers of sellers through Pinterest have helped boost the volume of pins, Pinterest’s head of commerce Michael Yamartino told FORBES. Pinterest announced in a post on Monday that it has partnered with three new commerce platforms, Bigcommerce, IBM Commerce and Magento, to make buyable pins available to thousands of additional merchants. Pinterest also said thousands of buyable pins are rolling out from new brands in the program such as Bloomingdale’s, Wayfair and DVP through its two original commerce partners, Demandware and Shopify.
