HTC, despite years of setbacks, hasn’t given up its old ambition to beat Apple at smartphones. The vendor normally releases high-end models only early in the year. But last month, as Apple came out with the iPhone 6s and 6s Plus, HTC updated its own latest “plus” model with a few hard-to-ignore features. HTC isn’t expected to take a big bite out of Apple but should get in a few nibbles with its relatively cheap $643 Android device.
