Nvidia GeForce NOW Game Streaming Service Aims To Be The “Netflix Of Gaming”

Nvidia’s vision for cloud-powered gaming is finally coming to fuition today with the announcement of a new service for Nvidia SHIELD devices called GeForce NOW. Powered by Nvidia’s GRID gaming and rendering infrastructure, the service will stream top game titles to a device like the Nvidia SHIELD tablet, the SHIELD hand-held gaming device or Nvidia’s recently launched SHIELD Android TV settop box, with much of the rendering workload done in “the cloud.” Nvidia’ s infrastructure for the service is built on Nvidia GeForce-powered GRID server farms in strategic locations. The GeForce NOW service will be capable of streaming in full HD 1080p resolutions at 60 frames per second. The new service essentially replaces Nvdia’s beta version of their GRID Gaming service and GeForce NOW has reportedly been retooled completely to provide the best experience possible for gamers. The new service is based on a $7.99 per month subscription model that will offer unlimited access to a bunch of bundled titles in Nvidia’s library, along with premium, newly released AAA game titles at standard retail prices. GeForce NOW Servers are available in multiple locations globally and users will be connected to the server that is closest to them for the best network performance and lowest latency.
