Markus Jebsen is known in Hong Kong for his family’s 120-year-old trading business, which imports Porsches and owns Blue Girl beer, the city’s best-selling brew. Jebsen, who split from the family trading firm (2014 sales $1.96 billion, run by his elder brother Hans Michael) to form MF Jebsen in 2002 has a keen interest in environmental issues. His latest campaign: ending the ivory trade in Hong Kong. Jebsen last week sent a fund-raising appeal to friends and acquaintances asking for help in funding a $105,000 campaign to end Hong Kong’s ivory trade, reputedly the world’s largest; he’s pledged over $25,000.
