Apple’s Ad Blocking: Is This The New Piracy?

With the recent release of Apple’s iOS 9.0, Apple has thrown its considerable weight behind a rapidly-growing tech trend: blocking ads from websites, thereby depriving content publishers of a significant source of revenue.  This reminds me of one of Apple’s more memorable slogans, which dates back to 2001: Rip, Mix, Burn.  The music industry interpreted this — which referred to creating your own music CDs — as a call to piracy.
