On January 6, 2015, I published a list of the “top 5 sports law stories for 2015” — a list that overwhelmingly focused on college athletes’ rights, NFL player discipline, and online sports gambling. On April 22, I updated this list to note important developments in these cases, including Northwestern University’s appeal of its college football players’ rights to unionize and the NCAA’s appeal of a generally favorable antitrust ruling for college athletes in O’Bannon v. NCAA.
