Donald Trump Presents Big Data Dystopia

Dystopia is big – especially in the media entertainment business. Look at the cottage industry in movies, television programs and books about how miserable our future is going to be. What’s the biggest show on television this summer? It’s Fear the Walking Dead, which is probably holding the place for its older sibling, The Walking Dead (not to mention Mr. Robot – that isn’t too warm and fuzzy of a future either). Heading to the movies? Perhaps you’ve taken in some variation of The Hunger Games, The Road, The Book of Eli, Contagion or Planet of the Apes. Hell, even literary novels have gotten into the act, with Eden Lepucki’s California (famously promoted by Stephen Colbert) and Emily St. John Mandel’s Station Eleven.
