At Last, A Wearable You Will Want To Wear

I admire designers in the fashion industry, because they constantly have to innovate to survive. Curiously, with all the talk about innovation, we are by default, referring to the tech industry.  Although the fashion industry is probably the most innovative industry, they lag in their use of technology.  I recently sat down with Diana Broussard, an accessories designer who is known by the fashion cognoscienti worldwide. She designs a line of handbags, footwear and accessories, and famously, designed shoes at Gucci when Tom Ford was their creative director. Diana and I discussed how technology and fashion can come together. Following is the edited interview:
Chander : What’s new in the Fashion world?
Diana: Fashion is always evolving.  Today, there is a major struggle between quality and quantity and luxury versus fast fashion.  In all cases, good design is key.  Athletic and tech-inspired clothing and accessories continue to be important influences.  Athletic- inspired clothing brings high tech fabrics such as neoprene and modernistic stretch fabrics to both luxury and fast fashion consumers.
