Something strange happened in Fallout 3. 99% of the game was open-world bliss: you, the lone wanderer, traipsing about the wasteland on your way to becoming an invincible warrior capable of shifting the entire fate of the post-apocolyptic DC metro. But when the main story came to its climax, that idea of choice melted away. Without giving away too many spoilers, the game forcefully ended the player story, even though there were friendly ways it could have continued. Fans hated it so much that Bethesda had to walk it back with the Broken Steel DLC and give players the ability to play on after the main quest. It was a much-needed move, but that made it even stranger when developer Obsidian did the same thing with Fallout: New Vegas. According to Bethesda, this won’t be the case with Fallout 4. They tweet:
