One tries to not be a sucker for a limited edition console. It seems, in every way imaginable, to be an absurd extravagance. I already have an Xbox One, after all, and I’m not going to buy another, even if it does come with some special controller or paint scheme to match whatever game they’re pairing it with now. And yet they always look so enticing, so special, even if it’s all the most basic form of marketing trickery. The one I came the closest to buying was the Majora’s Mask 3Ds, which a horde of other Zelda fans were able to pick up before I had a chance to make a silly decision. In that context, it makes sense that the thing that most catches my eye about Microsoft’s new Halo 5: Guardians Xbox One may be the most absurd, pointless thing about the entire system.
