As the world warms, more and more coastlines are under threat from flooding. Melting ice in the Arctic and Antarctic regions, along with warming ocean waters, are already producing noticeable rises in sea levels. That much is uncontroversial among scientists, and sea-level rise is a major worry for people living in coastal cities and on islands.
