April 26 1986. March 11 2011. These two dates bear one very horrifying thing in common. Both mark the days of the two worst nuclear accidents in the history of mankind. Other nuclear incidents include the 1979 Three-Mile Island incident in Pennsylvania, the 1957 Kyshtym disaster in Russia, the nuclear weapon testings if Operation Plumbbob in 1957 and Semipalatinsk between 1949 and 1991, and the devastating bombings of Hiroshima and Nagasaki, Japan in 1945. Little is known about the incidents that happened in Russia during the Cold War, however Kyshtym is now considered one of the worst incidents. It joins a very small and ‘elite’ list of moments in time that will be felt for years to come.
