China has officially lifted the 15-year nationwide ban on video game consoles, opening the doors for Sony, Microsoft and Nintendo to start selling the PS4, Xbox One and Wii U to the most populous nation on Earth. The Wall Street Journal reported the news first. China had been experimenting with lifting the ban before, allowing companies to manufacture and sell game consoles within the Shanghai Free Trade Zone along with special restrictions, but the Journal reports that the restrictions have now been lifted entirely, allowing companies to manufacture and sell consoles anywhere in the country.
