What do we mean when we talk about “another Earth”? That’s a tricky question, and one we don’t really have a good answer to yet. The obvious starting point is to look for planets that are roughly the same size and mass as Earth, orbiting stars similar to the Sun at the same distance. Those conditions aren’t enough to say a planet is identical to us, but they mean maybe they’re close enough to let life like we know it arise. Maybe. Possibly.
