Every new world we explore is surprising, interesting, magnificent in its own way. Pluto and its big moon Charon are no exceptions: even with just a tiny fraction of the data we’ll get from New Horizons, scientists and nonscientists alike were amazed. It was a great day and a landmark achievement for the engineers and scientists who built the probe, plotted its course across the Solar System, and made it possible to see images like this one:
