Will Freelancers Take Over Full Time Employees?

A popular topic of discussion around the freelancer economy is the idea of full time employment disappearing. In other words, is it realistic to think that in the near future everyone is going to be a freelancer and we won’t have any full time employees anymore? I get asked this question quite frequently but I also ask this question to executives that I interview and speak with. So what’s the answer? Neither I nor the companies I speak with see full time employment completely disappearing in the near future. This doesn’t mean that we won’t see the number of freelancers increase though. Instead we will see a hybrid approach of organizations having to manage workforce comprised of both full time employees and freelancers. It’s also important to remember that oftentimes when people refer to freelancers that these are people who still may full time jobs yet freelance on the side. In this episode of the #futurein5 I talk about this hybrid employment mode in more detail, tune in and let me know what you think!
